This morning Adriane and I recorded a Love the Process podcast reminiscing with Blake, Derek, and Riley on the experience where they went rim to rim to rim at the Grand Canyon after a mere 40 days of focused preparation. That is almost 50 miles, 11K plus of elevation on both sides of the Canyon and over 100 degree heat in the bottom—all in one day!
First of all, what a feat! Secondly, they all had stayed ready prior to the 40 days of preparation so that their baseline was sufficient to be able to prepare in such a short time. However, the thing that I was most struck by was during the actual task of going rim to rim to rim the theme that each of them shared was the idea of “keep moving forward.”
This is the essence of Love the Process. Love shows up. Love is an action, not a feeling. And, Lord knows, sometimes the process is not overly exciting and can sometimes be downright excruciating. This is an important distinction that we need to make. No one said the process would be easy—but rather that it would be fruitful. And in order to bear the fruit, you have to stay in the fight and keep moving forward.
So my encouragement to us all on this WINsday is to keep moving forward. Pain is temporary—it may last a day or a month or a year—but giving up is permanent. So regardless of whatever your hill is & whatever your desires are, be intentional to surround yourself with people who keep moving forward. Be an example to others of the same and I promise you the fruits of your efforts will be great.
