One of the hallmarks of a leader is the deep conviction that he or she can make a positive difference even when the circumstances are difficult or the perceived hill to climb is very steep. This belief is an inside job and the quality of a leader is determined by the consistency to maintain this belief regardless of circumstance.

The difference between those who win and those who lose is often found in this quality. It is easy these days to find someone who can tell you why something won’t work or to find a reason to quit—those who prevail to make a positive difference are those who do not fall prey to such foolish thinking.
