Making life “easy” for children usually makes life “hard” for them in adulthood. I believe one of the greatest gifts that can be given to a child is to teach him or her the value of work. It is a gift that can never be taken away.
I realize that it can be a natural desire of parents to give their children the material things that they may not have had as a kid, however this often can deprive a child of an even greater gift: the confidence in their ability to take care of themselves. When you make life “hard” for your children by requiring them to learn the value of work, they will have a far greater likelihood of success as adults.
I often say to my kids, “you know why they call it work??” They call it work because it WORKS!
Wishing you and your family all the best this season.
Let’s Go!
