“Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”
-John F. Kennedy
One of the most liberating belief systems that one can possess is one that incorporates personal responsibility. I hate to break it to you, at the end of the day no one is coming to save you – or me, for that matter! It is up to us to prepare for the future that we want to occupy. Study after study show that those who believe strongly in their own ownership of the outcomes in their lives are happier, healthier, and more successful than those who maintain a blaming mentality. And, frankly, it is not even close between the two.
Further, it is vitally important to realize that the circumstances of our lives are not in fact our lives, regardless of what they are. In fact, when we look at the current state of our lives it is already in the past. The question we need to ask is what in the past led to the current result and what can I do today to either sustain those results or to improve upon them. A wise man once said, “the unexamined life is not worth living” – and that process takes a lifetime.
Simply: WE ARE RESPONSIBLE.
Let’s Go!
John
